Therapy for Anxiety & Depression

in-person in Brooklyn and online across NY State

Does it feel like you’re trapped in an endless loop?

Anxiety and depression can make it impossible to get out of your own head.

Some days it might feel as if you’re being yelled at by a loud inner voice that’s keeping track of all your faults, reminding you of every misstep you’ve ever made. Or you might find yourself paralyzed by overthinking, going over all the worst-case scenarios, expecting things to go wrong, and unable to stop the racing thoughts.

Maybe you’re stalled by your fear of failure, too scared to take a chance because you don’t want to risk messing up or making a mistake, too deflated to set or strive for any goals.

Or maybe you do set goals, but then you find yourself doing things to get in your own way — like you’re your own worst enemy, as well as harshest critic.

Maybe you’re having trouble believing that anyone could see you in a positive light, sure that if they do you must have tricked them, and any minute they’ll figure out you’re a fraud. Maybe you even end up pushing people away as a result.

It might feel impossible to tell your loved ones what you need or want or wish for; perhaps it feels hard to know. Maybe deep down,  you don’t believe that you deserve it.

Or maybe it just feels too scary to want or need anything in the first place.

You’ve become isolated and disconnected from the people around you, believing you’re alone in this, and totally unsure how to break the cycle. You’re immobilized by indecision and insecurity.

You look at your life and think:

“This is not the person I want to be.”

But figuring out what you do want is no easy task. The depression and anxiety are clouding your vision and muddling your thoughts. Where do you go from here?

Imagine if you could see another way…

… if you could approach yourself with kindness, quiet your inner critic, and learn to trust your inherent worth.

… if you could understand why you feel and act the way you do, be clear and confident in your decisions, and feel empowered to define and achieve your goals.

… if you could relax in your relationships, accept the love that you deserve, and learn to voice your needs.

My practice is an accepting environment where you can feel safe engaging in honest self-exploration, a place where all parts of you are invited to be present and heard.

With warmth, curiosity, and openness, I will:

  • listen attentively and reflect back what I’m hearing, in order to help you see things in a new light

  • guide you in excavating the past that shaped you, and mapping its influence on you in the present

  • hold space for those aspects of yourself that you don’t like or are afraid to look at too closely, and meet them with compassion

  • provide validation, while also gently challenging you

  • help you get clear on your goals and values, and hold you accountable to them
